Bella and her baby...

I have been trying for a few days to get a picture of bella with her baby chandler.
She takes care of him like a mom would. Plays with him like a sister would.
She enjoys having him around I think. She's such a good cat. I just love her.
She gets a lot of extra attention from me because I thought she was feeling left
out. She's not lol. She's a great girl! And very helpful! ;)

settled

Chandler has settled in very nicely...not that he really had a chance to go anywhere lol. he thinks Bella is his mom and she gladly has taken on the role! I like to call him bing bong. odd name for a cat, huh? when he's being sassy (which is not often at all!) I use my Janice from friends voice....chandla bingg (hard jersey accent).
He loves the laser pointer. he loves climbing up the scratching post and laying down.
Bella loves chasing him around. He watches her intently as she gets into mischief!
Sammy doesn't care at all. He's glad to have Bella not bug him and he can lay in the sun and watch TV. Sam's an old dude. he will be 11 in October. Sometimes I think "oh my gosh I have 3 cats!!" and other times it's really quiet lol.

Today starts my first day of adoption counselling. I stopped fostering for now. I may have stopped altogether. I don't think its something i'm going to do again any time soon. it's too hard. I have done a great thing by helping but now its time to get some cats homes!

It's a boy

I adopted Chandler today. After bringing him to the center and putting him in the room, i left him in there for a bit and then went back in. He was really freaked out and jumped up on my lap. I said screw it and decided that cats really do have feelings...and while I know he would have been ok eventually, I couldn't leave him.
I literally could NOT leave him there. So I signed the adoption papers and paid the fee and left with my cat.

He is a very good boy. I really picked a good one (ok he picked me but that's beside the point) and now i have my very own black Halloween kitty LOL. :)

Welcome home Chandler Bing Bong Slack.

Sammy and Bella

I had someone recently ask me "which two are your cats"

so here they are.

Sammy is an orange tabby who I got 10 years ago. He is Casey's cat.
When Casey and I moved to our own places, I took Sammy (and my cat Lacy).

that's a picture of sammy and lacy. my favorite picture of them. He
was being sassy. Lacy was laying there sleeping and sam jumped up and
woke her up. this is right before she jumped down and walked off.

Then there is bella. I adopted bella when she was 8ish weeks old from
orphan animal rescue in neenah, wi. I went just looking because after Lacy
died, sammy seemed down. I wanted someone who would be there with him and keep
him busy. Bella was cute so I adopted her. She was kind of a spur of the
moment cat. I probably shouldn't have gotten her. I love her (now) don't get me
wrong... I just think I probably should have waited. she's family now, so
that's that. She is getting a lot better than she has been. For a while I
was going to send her back. Seriously. She still drives me nuts for the most
part but it's A LOT better (like i said).

Baby Annabelle Louise (her full name)

Chandler

There have been many, many foster cats and kittens that come through my doors. Some are sick, some need love and some are too young to be adopted. No matter what the case is, I love them all. I have fostered over 30 cats and kittens. Only 3 I really wanted to keep.

Elphie....

Carmella....

and Chandler...

Chandler is from the latest group of kittens that I had...the "friends" crew..

Chandler, Ross, Joey and Gunther....

The other 3 went to get neutered and bing stayed behind. he is an amazingly well behaved kitten. calm, content and fits well in our little family. It has crossed my mind on several occasions to keep him. he is going to be one challenge i am not looking forward to. fostering is hard, loving is easy.

Lola

One of my many many foster kittens was adopted (again) yesterday. Her story is a cute one, so i'm going to share it :)

Lola came to me with 3 other kittens... carmella, casey and jack.

She was the most scared out of the group. Hissing at me all the time, making
sure I knew that she was "the boss" and there was no way in hell I would ever
pet her let alone make her into a love.

Then they all went on a trip to get spayed and neutered. She came back the
most loving kitten. She would always climb on my leg and lay there and
purr and purr.

There came a day when she went to the center to be adopted. I had a strange
feeling about it but it wasn't my decision to choose who adopted her, so off
she went. I got a few pictures from her first family.

She looked content.

Then, all of a sudden, there was an allergy in that family and Lola was
sent packing back to the center. I saw her there by accident one day and
was floored. she ran across the room and jumped on my shoulder, like she has
done for months, and began to lick my face. Right then and there I was going
to pack her up and take her home. I didn't, but I was going to. A few
weeks went by and I was floored that this love was not adopted! She is so
amazing. The process of seeing her go from a little crab to a love was so fun!
Then it happened! Lola's family finally came! This time, she would stay
with them forever! She would never have to worry about going back to the
center. She would never have to wonder if she would be loved. She would never
go hungry. She would always be loved!

Congratulations Miss Lola!

Ross

I told you I'd get him!! :) He has been thee most challenging kitten I have ever
fostered!! He came to me EXTREMELY feral over a month ago. It took me over a month for him to earn my trust. It took over a month for him not to run and hide with his ears back. It took him over a month to come within 2 feet of me and not be scared. It took him until TODAY to play in my presence. It took him until TODAY to "make bread".

He's a purring, loving kitten who is still a little shy but I saved his life and NO ONE else did! I got him to trust that I wouldn't eat him or hurt him. That I would feed him and love him. It makes me a little choked up that I did that. and that he let me. He is now ready to go to the adoption center. He will go on Saturday evening to join his brothers. Now that's love. Thanks Ross :)

My Bella and me

I took this picture today because she was in her normal spot
and she was watching the computer and falling asleep. She was so
cute. I don't have a very good web cam so it's a little grainy,
but I just love it. Thought I would share. She's a sweet girl
and I love her.

I also added a little thing on the right side of this blog
that has a thing you can click to give litter to some
non profit no kill animal rescues. you vote for the one you
like and the winner gets a lot of cat litter. there are usually 3
to choose from. go to each site, check out the one you like
and vote. you can also suggest some rescues. I did. you should!

uh oh

so, recently I have been letting Chandler bing bong out of the room to play with the big kids. I only did that because his brothers went on the neuter run and he was too little. NOW, he comes out because he thinks he lives here lol. He's a great little dude. He's going to make some family really happy :)

Foster Babes...

So I brought Chandler to the vet today to have him checked out. he has
some infected spots on his bod. poor baby. he's on clavamox (amoxicillin
for cats) and has some cream to put on the spots. He purred the whole
time he was at the vet! he's a great little dude!

Joey... He came by me tonight and actually let me pet him. baby steps.

Gunther... you can tell that he wants to come and play so badly but he
keeps his distance and watches.

and then there is Ross. Ross and I have a love/hate relationship.
He loves to hate me. I have read every article on how to "tame a feral kitten"
and even watched videos on how to do it. I'd like to make my own video called
"how to tame a feral kitten except it's not working at all leave suggestions"

I got a few good ones. use low voices, don't smile big (looks like you're going to eat them), turn on a radio when you're not in the room.

so what I did when I went in before was frown, used a deep voice and sang.
didn't work lol.

so I tried this.... turned on the radio and left the room.

the result was this.... LOUD MUSIC cuz someone thought the radio was a toy.

I feel like the piano guy from sesame street!!

Ross

I hate that I can't "get" him. He runs. He hates me. I'm being
serious. I feel like a failure with him. I also feel bad because
I want to give the whole batch back in trade for adorable friendly
kittens. I was so pumped about getting foster kittens. and I really
think Chandler is sweet. he's the only one I would keep lol (not KEEP..)
I feel like an idiot because I have so many questions. blah.

Wild Ones....

I have 4 wild kittens...one purrs, one is getting use to me coming in and will come to my foot, one comes ALMOST within petting distance ........and then there's Ross. I don't know what to do about him. he WILL NOT come by me AT ALL. he's curious about what i'm doing. he will come by the dishes to be fed. He runs away and will keep running if I keep moving. If I am on one side of the room, he is on the other...watching me intently. I have never had a foster batch like these before. It's REALLY hard. I like the ones where they come almost ready to go and I just need to give them some TLC. I am not caring for this batch. No offense to them. They did nothing wrong. They can't help they are nervous (except for Chandler, he's NOT nervous at all!)

Foster Challenges...

I am continuing on the path of fostering cats and kittens. I had a batch of 2 girls and 2 boys last time. And an almost keeper named Carmella. That's the dangerous part of being a foster home. The ones you want to keep. For me, there were a couple.
Elphie.

Carmella. :)

Now I have 4 boys. Joey, Ross, Chandler and Gunther. (the friends boys!)
they are wild boys but I am going to make them into sweet purr monsters!!
